Bang Your Head and Win a T-Shirt - COMPETITION NOW CLOSED

Bombstrikes beatsmith Pimpsoul has been hard at work on the funk forge, and has crafted this dancefloor pounding, foot stomping and head banging piece of naughtiness called, errr, Bang Your Head! It's special!

On what would once have been called the "flipside" is the Erb N Dub remix, with the funk well and truly chucked out the window, and replaced with generous layers of ferocious drumstep filth. These two tasty tracks are served up with a side order of extra funk, in the shape of Place To Be featuring DJ P and sprinkled with a dusting of Alaska MC to add the finishing touch . . . coming together to form a trio that is refreshing on the palate and devastating on the dancefloor!

Funk and Filth File o' Facts : DJ Lady Bex

DJ Lady Bex is one funky little lady for sure! On the decks she spins a delicious blend of garage, house, electro and basically anything that the dancefloor demands, and her skills have seen her venture far from her Brighton HQ to play all over the place, including London, Egypt, Latvia, Dubai, Jordan, Croatia, Norway, Vienna, Greece, Thailand, LA . . . impressive, and she doesn't look too shabby in a Funk and Filth T-shirt either! ;)

When she's not working alongside some massive music industry names (Ms Dynamite, DJ EZ, Trevor Nelson, Shola Ama, The Freemasons Brandon Block and loads more) she's clearly also something of an entrepreneur, launching the Skinny Chimp gym wear range, which I'm sure she looks just as charming in as in her Funk and Filth tee.

Check a couple of her mixes here, the JackinJill remix is our clear favourite, bringing the old school garage flavour bang up to date, and it's free to download as well!

Funk and Filth File o' Facts : Jem Stone

The Jem Stone Express has just pulled into your town, laden with a cargo of pure liquid funk! It's no secret that we're big fans of Jem here at Funk and Filth, not just musically talented, he's also the man behind a lot of the awesome artwork you've seen on Finger Lickin' releases over the years - check out the review we did of his exhibition last year!

It's been a while since we were last gifted any free download goodness from one of the funkiest fellas about, but this latest trip on the Jem Stone Express is a return to the brilliance that we've learnt to love from the guy who has had fingers in so many bassline pies over the years! Download it for free below, check out the trippy video, or have a flick through the Juno player further down for some more Jem Stone funk!

Life Support Machine On Fire!

I frickin love waking up with the Life Support Machine guys!
Well, not literally, but never say never hey!! ;)

This morning was particularly special for two reasons . . .

First of all, I opened my eyes to the news that the boundary-smashing Mr No Hands had released his remix of Tobacco Road (BOOM!), and that it was also available as a free download (DOUBLE BOOM)! The last couple of months have seen the no-handed wonder focussing more on the production and remixes skills that had been all too rare last year, and there is no doubt that in 2013 the fella with the (one can only assume) elbow-operated effects pad is seriously back in business!

Check out his Tobacco Road remix below, and download it for free here!

Secondly, I had only just calmed down from all the Tobacco Road induced excitement, when a second musical package lands on my desk in front of me . . . . the Second Class of 99 Mix CD thanks to the beatsmithing brilliance of Louise 'Fifties' O'Donnell, Life Support Machine's resident mixing machine!

In defiance of all genre boundaries, Fifties has leant momentarily away from the breaks and bass scene to deliver a dance down musical memory lane for anyone who can remember the nineties and noughties (let's be honest, it's all pretty hazy!)

Here's the mix, available also as a free download, and a little something to break-up a whole day of funky, filthy basslines! Indie, rock, house . . . this one contains a bit of everything!

Indulge in some bassline banter with like-minded lunatics in the new Funk and Filth Chat Room!

Funk and Filth File o' Facts : Playtime Productions

Time for something a little bit different on Funk and Filth today. We're momentarily veering away from the familiar realm of breaks, dubstep and drum n bass, to bring a little deep house flavour to your ear drums.

Playtime Productions are London-based duo Daniel Rawe and Vivid Emotion who, having wandered and bounced down many different musical avenues, have found their sound with their 125bpm deep house production style, bringing beautifully moody basslines and hypnotic beats to the masses. They've spent the last year releasing tracks on AudioRehab, Audiowhore and their own label Recess Recordings, but this week see's their first ever free track, and here it is, in all it's head-bobbing glory, for you fine people.

Grab the free download of their tasty track Inevitable available right here, or check the player below for a whole load more from Playtime Productions, Sicker Than Your Average (out today!) and Just One Kiss are our personal favourites!
