Dr. Hooka's Surgery presents BATTLEJAM - featuring JFB, WBBL, Detta and more . . .

Welcome to 2016 people! Month 1 is pretty much done and, musically speaking, this year is already lining up to be a banger!

Doctor Hooka is already assuming his familiar pivotal role, right at the centre of all the funk that is being flung around in the UK. So far he's dished out a funk-fuelled new year edition of the monthly Funk and Filth mixtape series (Feb edition coming your way VERY SOON!), as well as a ridiculously fruity start to his 2016 NSB Radio show . . . the latest show featuring a guest mix from the Fabulous Mr Freear of Slamboree fame (scroll down to listen to the set)!

The Doc is also lining up a schedule of events that will leave funk fans drooling down their chins. Next up on the agenda is Dr. Hooka's Surgery presents BATTLEJAM [powered by the RC1 SoundSystem]. It's the official warm up event for this year's Shinding weekender!

Dr. Hooka's Surgery, in association with Ghetto Funk Management, presents Battlejam
Brighton's long running club night of beats, bass, funk and turntable trickery makes it's debut, in Bristol, on April 22nd at The Lanes.

The Funk And Filth Monthly Mixtape- January 2016 by Dr. Hooka's Surgery on

For the launch of Battlejam they have enlisted the RC1 Sound System to bring the boom to the Lanes. As the "go to" choice for PA for the likes of Skream, Deep Medi and Hopsitality, and more, you know it's gonna be a good night as they take this heavy weight line up to the next level.

Brighton’s JFB is a turntablist DJ and party rocker extraordinaire who has won the UK DMC Championships in 2007, 2011 and is currently 2015 UK title holder. Yet unlike many scratch DJs, JFB also knows when to stop beatjuggling and start dropping bombs – ultimately, it’s all about making the people dance. Set him loose on a pair of turntables and a mixer, and he will set about producing groundbreaking results that are just jaw-dropping.

Hailing from the Southwest UK, WBBL serves up a fresh blend of home-grown funk, glitch and electro beats fused with the wobbliest hi-grade basslines known to mankind. He performs using an array of controllers and samplers to recreate and reimagine his own tracks and remixes by constructing and deconstructing everything as he goes.
